The experience

In the morning, the harbour: a ferry from the Gateway of India to Elephanta Island, the toy-train ride through Gharapuri village, and the 120-step climb to cave temples carved fifteen centuries ago — crowned by the majestic three-faced Maheshmurti of Shiva.
Back on the mainland, the afternoon belongs to the city itself: the Gateway of India up close, the sweep of Marine Drive, the organised chaos of Dhobi Ghat, and the cathedral-like Victoria Terminus — with your guide threading the story of how seven islands became the Maximum City.
