The experience
This is the day our guests talk about at dinner parties for years. In the morning, the harbour: a ferry from the Gateway of India to Elephanta Island, the toy-train ride through Gharapuri village, and the 120-step climb to cave temples carved fifteen centuries ago — crowned by the majestic three-faced Maheshmurti of Shiva.
Back on the mainland, the afternoon belongs to the city itself: the Gateway of India up close, the sweep of Marine Drive, the organised chaos of Dhobi Ghat, and the cathedral-like Victoria Terminus — with your guide threading the story of how seven islands became the Maximum City.
Why book the combination
- Tolls and parking are fully included on this itinerary — one price, zero add-ons.
- One guide carries the narrative across both halves; the island makes the city make sense.
- The logistics — ferry timings, traffic windows, lunch stop — are choreographed so you never wait.
Good to know
- Elephanta is closed on Mondays; we'll happily run the combination in reverse or swap in Kanheri Caves.
- Bring a hat and water for the island half; the afternoon is air-conditioned comfort.
